Scholarships and Awards

Every year, the Molecular Biology programs offers some 50 scholarships to the students whose academic record is of a high quality.

Molecular Biology Programs Scholarships

Excellence Awards (M.Sc. and PhD)

Eligibility
  • be enrolled in the Molecular Biology programs during the Fall 2025 session (M.Sc., Ph.D.),
  • For the students registered for more than a year: to have done his/her “Comité de parrainage” or his/her Thesis Committee; to have completed and submitted the annual evaluations ,
  • For M.Sc. excellence scholarships:
    • Do not accumulate an amount greater than $ 15,000 in annual scholarship(s) from a recognized funding agency, or from the ESP or the Faculty of Medicine (excluding scholarships for differential tuition fees for international students). The director agrees to supplement the cumulative amount of scholarships to a MINIMUM of $ 20,000 without exceeding $ 40,000, including the contribution of the research center, if applicable.
    • Never have received the M.Sc. excellence scholarship previously
  • For Ph.D. excellence scholarships :
    • Do not accumulate an amount greater than $ 19,000 in annual scholarship(s) from a recognized funding agency, or from the ESP or from the Faculty of Medicine (excluding scholarships for differential tuition fees for international students). The director agrees to supplement the cumulative amount of scholarships to a MINIMUM of $ 25,000 without exceeding $ 40,000, including the contribution of the research center, if applicable.
    • Not have received the Ph.D. excellence scholarship more than once previously.
Evaluation Criteria

Scholarships are awarded according to the excellence of the candidates. The following elements will be considered:

  • academic record: photocopied transcripts, “Comité de parrainage” report (for M.Sc. students registered for more than 6 months), thesis committee report, formative evaluation sheets (to be sent separately to the Programs Office, for students registered for more than 6 months),
  • Have a GPA> or = 3.6 / 4.3 or equivalent.
  • publications (articles, abstracts, etc.),
  • Progress of the research project and academic studies
Submission of applications

You have to submit:

  • a copy of the application form ( French form / English form)
  • a copy of your university transcripts
  • a copy of your last “comité de parrainage” or thesis committee

The full application package must be submitted no later than October 6 at 23:59 (see the Email from the program for submission instructions). Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Funding Decision

The Graduate Studies Committee of the Molecular Biology programs will examine the applications, classify the candidates and award scholarships.

Writing scholarship

Eligibility
  • Not have previously received writing scholarship by the Molecular Biology programs
  • The quality of the student’s academic record: transcripts, “Comité de parrainage” report, thesis committee annual report, formative evaluation sheets (to be sent separately to the Programs Office)
  • To be enrolled in writing status (“en rédaction”) and plan to finish this writing and submit your thesis by the end of the Summer 2026 session (the student’s research director must confirm the progress of work)
  • For the M.Sc. writing scholarship:
      • Do not accumulate scholarship(s) worth a total of more than $ 15,000 annually from a recognized funding agency, or from the ESP or Faculté de médecine.
  • For the Ph.D. writing scholarhip:
      • Do not accumulate scholarship(s) worth a total of more than $ 19,000 annually from a recognized funding agency, or from the ESP or Faculté de médecine.
Objective

To help deserving students, who have high academic records but experience financial difficulties, to complete their program.

Submission of applications

You have to submit:

  • a copy of the application form ( French form / English form)
  • a copy of your university transcripts
  • a copy of the report from your last “comité de parrainage” or thesis committee

The full application package must be submitted no later than October 7 at 23:59 (see the Email from the program for submission instructions). Incomplete applications will not be considered.
