{"id":3734,"date":"2013-09-20T12:02:41","date_gmt":"2013-09-20T16:02:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/?page_id=3734"},"modified":"2025-09-16T15:01:03","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T19:01:03","slug":"scholarships-and-awards","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/en\/student-guide\/scholarships-and-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Scholarships and Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every year, the Molecular Biology programs offers some 50 scholarships to the students whose academic record is of a high quality.<\/p>\n<p>You should also consult the <a href=\"https:\/\/esp.umontreal.ca\/bourses-et-financement\/bourses-disponibles-aux-cycles-superieurs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESP website<\/a> that conatins a lot of relevant information.<a href=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/tirelire.jpg\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3244\" title=\"tirelire\" src=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/tirelire.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"146\" height=\"146\" srcset=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/tirelire.jpg 146w, https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/tirelire-80x80.jpg 80w, https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/tirelire-36x36.jpg 36w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 146px) 100vw, 146px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Molecular Biology Programs Scholarships<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h4>Excellence Awards (M.Sc. and PhD)<\/h4>\n<h5>Eligibility<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>be enrolled in the Molecular Biology programs <strong>during the Fall 2025 session<\/strong> (M.Sc., Ph.D.),<\/li>\n<li>For the students registered for<strong> more than a year<\/strong>: to have done<a href=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/guide-de-letudiant\/student-progression\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> his\/her &#8220;Comit\u00e9 de parrainage&#8221; or his\/her Thesis Committee<\/a>; to have completed and submitted the <a title=\"Student Progression\" href=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/guide-de-letudiant\/student-progression\/?lang=en\">annual evaluations<\/a> ,<\/li>\n<li><strong>For M.Sc. excellence scholarships<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Do not accumulate an amount greater than <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">$ 15,000 in annual scholarship(s)<\/span> from a recognized funding agency, or from the ESP or the Faculty of Medicine (excluding scholarships for differential tuition fees for international students). The director agrees to supplement the cumulative amount of scholarships to a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">MINIMUM of $ 20,000<\/span> without exceeding $ 40,000, including the contribution of the research center, if applicable.<\/li>\n<li>Never have received the M.Sc. excellence scholarship previously<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>For\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Ph.D.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>excellence scholarships <\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Do not accumulate an amount greater than <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">$ 19,000 in annual scholarship(s)<\/span> from a recognized funding agency, or from the ESP or from the Faculty of Medicine (excluding scholarships for differential tuition fees for international students). The director agrees to supplement the cumulative amount of scholarships to a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">MINIMUM of $ 25,000<\/span> without exceeding $ 40,000, including the contribution of the research center, if applicable.<\/li>\n<li>Not have received the Ph.D. excellence scholarship more than once previously.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Evaluation Criteria<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Scholarships are awarded according to the excellence of the candidates. The following elements will be considered:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>academic record: photocopied transcripts, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/en\/student-guide\/student-progression\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Comit\u00e9 de parrainage<\/a>&#8221; report (for M.Sc. students registered for more than 6 months), <a href=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/en\/student-guide\/student-progression\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">thesis committee report<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/en\/student-guide\/student-progression\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">formative evaluation sheets<\/a> (to be sent separately to the Programs Office, for students registered for more than 6 months),<\/li>\n<li>Have a GPA&gt; or = 3.6 \/ 4.3 or equivalent.<\/li>\n<li>publications (articles, abstracts, etc.),<\/li>\n<li>Progress of the research project and academic studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Submission of applications<\/h5>\n<p>You have to submit:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a copy of the application form (\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/FormulaireBoursesBioMol-FR-1.docx\">French form<\/a> \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/FormulaireBoursesBioMol_EN.docx\">English form<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>a copy of your university transcripts<\/li>\n<li>a copy of your last &#8220;comit\u00e9 de parrainage&#8221; or thesis committee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The full application package must be submitted no later than<strong> October 6 at 23:59 <\/strong>(see the Email from the program for submission instructions).
