Les travaux de l\u2019\u00e9quipe de recherche en structure et fonction du noyau cellulaire ont men\u00e9 \u00e0 la d\u00e9couverte que la perturbation de certains processus dans le noyau de la cellule contribue \u00e0 transformer la cellule normale en cellule canc\u00e9reuse. On sait plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment que la perturbation de la fonction de la prot\u00e9ine eIF4E, un facteur eucaryote d\u2019initiation de la traduction des ARN messagers, joue un r\u00f4le dans cette transformation cellulaire. Au moyen de techniques de biologie mol\u00e9culaire et cellulaire et d\u2019approches biophysiques de r\u00e9solution structurale prot\u00e9ique, notre \u00e9quipe vise \u00e0 \u00e9lucider les m\u00e9canismes mol\u00e9culaires des processus biochimiques qui am\u00e8nent une cellule \u00e0 devenir\u00a0canc\u00e9reuse. Ces \u00e9tudes ont aid\u00e9 \u00e0 concevoir de nouvelles strat\u00e9gies th\u00e9rapeutiques faisant actuellement l&#8217;objet d&#8217;essais cliniques.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"one-half  \">\n<h2>Research axis<\/h2>\n<p>Structure and Function of the Cell Nucleus<\/p>\n<h2>Research description<\/h2>\n<p>A key issue in cancer biology is the way in which cells become cancerous. Our research team has found that disruption of certain nuclear processes in the cell contribute to the transformation of a healthy cell into a cancerous one. One protein in particular\u2013the eukaryotic translation initiation factor eIF4E\u2013when dysregulated, contributes to this transformation process. Using cell and molecular biological, biophysical and atomic resolution structural studies, our team aims to elucidate the molecular underpinnings of the biochemical events which lead to cells becoming\u00a0cancerous.
