Admission Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To be eligible for admission as a regular student in the <strong>M.Sc. program in Molecular Biology<\/strong>, you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have one of the following degrees or its equivalent approved by the Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies:\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor of Science in an appropriate field (biochemistry, biology, microbiology, chemistry);<\/li>\n<li>Doctor of Medicine;<\/li>\n<li>degree deemed equivalent to the above<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>have earned a minimum grade-point average of <strong>3.0 out of 4.3<\/strong> (or the equivalent according to the grading system of Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al) in your degree program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first step to apply for the\u00a0<strong>General Option<\/strong> of the Master\u2019s program in Molecular Biology is to identify a research director who agrees to accept you in his\/her lab during your studies. Please consult the <a href=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/en\/research\/les-professeurs\/\"><\/a><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/en\/research\/les-professeurs\/\">list of professors accredited by the programs<\/a>.\u00a0An acceptance letter<\/strong>\u00a0from the research director is <u>mandatory<\/u> to complete your application.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the options with internships (<strong>Systems Biology option<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Molecular and Cellular Medicine option<\/strong>), you must first pass a pre-selection process, and get <strong>a confirmation letter<\/strong>\u00a0from the option coordinator of the research unit concerned (IRIC for Systems Biology, IRCM for Molecular and Cellular Medicine). For any questions please contact the <a href=\"mailto:Affaires.Academiques@ircm.qc.ca\">IRCM Academic Affaires office<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to the confirmation letter from a research director, other complementary documents needed for an admission request are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>CV<\/li>\n<li>Motivation letter or intention letter<\/li>\n<li>All university-level transcripts, with a minimal average equivalent to 3.0\/4.3 (B) at the undergraduate level<\/li>\n<li>Certificate of completed research internship (if applicable)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that all documents should be uploaded via the Centre \u00c9tudiant as soon as your online\u00a0admission application is ready. You can consult the detailed instructions on <a href=\"https:\/\/admission.umontreal.ca\/en\/admissions\/filing\/submit-an-application\/\">how to submit an application<\/a> including the required supporting documents. <em>Students who need help to understand the French terms and to fill the admission form may download this <a href=\"https:\/\/admission.umontreal.ca\/fileadmin\/fichiers\/documents\/guides_pdf\/ApplicationForm-EnglishTranslation.pdf\">bilingual document<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Students currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Medicine and whose academic performance is considered excellent by the Faculty may, in some particular cases, be admitted simultaneously to a M.Sc. program.<\/p>\n<p>For students who have completed a B.Sc. with <em>Honours<\/em> track, some courses may be credited. Please contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/nous-joindre\/\">program office<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Please do not hesitate to consult our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/biomol.umontreal.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/Procedure-Admission-Msc-an.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">admission guide<\/a> for students who would like to start a Master&#8217;s program.<\/p>\n<div class=\"box left  \">\n<p>Please take note that you must submit your application for admission<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>before February 1<sup>st<\/sup>, for the summer session<\/li>\n<li>before February 1<sup>st <\/sup>(1<sup>st<\/sup> cohort) or May 1<sup>st<\/sup> (2<sup>nd<\/sup> cohort), for the fall session<\/li>\n<li>before September 15<sup>th<\/sup>, for the winter session<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>International students should apply for admission at least 8 months before the desired date of the beginning of the studies.<\/p>\n<p>Outside these dates, the files will be reviewed on a case by case basis.<\/p>\n<p>Once your application for admission has been submitted, your complete file will be reviewed by the Molecular Biology Programs Graduate Studies Committee. You will be given a formal response after the meeting of the Committee.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"box left  \">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h2>Scolarships<\/h2>\n<p>All our students receive a stipend in compliance with the Faculty of Medicine&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/medecine.umontreal.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2024\/06\/FI_Politique_adoptee-CF090524__ANGLAIS_Final.pdf\">Integrated Funding Policy<\/a>. You will also be encouraged to submit applications for scholarships offered by the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al and external agencies to expand your CV.<\/p>\n<h2>Modalit\u00e9s sp\u00e9cifiques \u00e0 la ma\u00eetrise<\/h2>\n<p>The academic calendar of Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al is divided into three trimesters (fall, winter, summer). The minimum duration for the M.Sc. General option is 3 trimesters (1 year).<strong> The maximum duration is 6 trimesters<\/strong> (2 years). The M.Sc.
